Manual/Auto, bumpless transfer and tracking

Operators switch controller modes. In Manual output set directly. In Auto controller calculates output. If integral state not aligned with manual output, switching to Auto can cause output jump - bump.

Bumpless transfer

Controller tracks manual output and adjusts internal bias/integral so Auto starts from current output. Similar issue occurs in cascade when secondary controller changes between Local/Remote setpoint.

Практическая работа

Valve manually at 60 %, controller internal output would be 20 %. Explain what happens without tracking when switched Auto and why bumpless transfer matters.

Самопроверка

• What is Manual mode?

• What is bumpless transfer?

• Why integral tracking?

• Where else tracking used?

• What risk of sudden output jump?
